Beaches

There is a good choice of white, sandy beaches, all within easy driving distance, where you can enjoy swimming, rock pooling, sailing, windsurfing, sand yatching, kite surfing/ body surfing or just relaxing on the beach.

One of the nearest recommended sandy beaches for children is Damgan (20 mins). A beautiful long stretch of beach with sailing school and small seaside town with shops, restaurants and bars.

Beaches
Also the smaller quieter beach at Penn Lann, sandy beach with rock pools. Penvins (30 mins is another long stretch of sandy beach with well stocked rock pools and sailing school.
The Ryuys Peninsula has something for everyone. A long sandy beach - ‘Plage de Fogeo’. For those who love to watch yachts and pleasure craft should visit the marina at Port-Crouesty. The harbour at Port-Navalo is smaller and more picturesque. Find time to walk around the Port-Navalo headland as it is a lovely place.
Some of the larger beach resorts include Carnac and St Pierre-Quiberon. Plenty of beach activities, restaurants and shops.
For surfing enthusiasts we recommend the Quiberon Peninsula.

Boat Trips

Take a cruise around some of the many islands in the Gulf of Morbihan.
Ile aux Monies – about 4 miles long, it is the most populous and popular island in the gulf (only 5 mins ferry crossing from Baden). It is covered with sub-tropical vegetation – camellias, mimosas, orange trees and woodlands.
Ile d’Arz – slightly smaller and barren. Both islands have fishing villages with quaint cottages and lanes, several megaliths and pleasant beaches from which to paddle or swim.
Belle Ile ‘beautiful island’ deserves its name. The largest of the islands off the coast (10 miles long).Everything here will put you under its spell, - the green valleys, the moorland, the magnificent beachs and tiny villages with their quaint little houses.
Ile Houat is a haven of peach and quiet. Very few cars are allowed here. There is only the wind, the moor, the sand, the cliffs and a few low houses huddled together against the elements.
A variety of trips available - Tours of the Gulf of Morbihan, day trips, lunch and dinner cruises. Bike hire available on some islands. Sailings from Vannes, Port Navalo, Auray, Le Bono and Larmor Baden. Visit www.navix.fr or www.izenah-croisieres.com for more information.

Walking

There is no better way to enjoy the picturesque beauty of the area other than taking leisurely walks.  There are many beautiful walks and footpaths in the area, from strolls around the local county lanes and woodland, riverbanks and many coastal paths.  A hoist of well signposted walks for all.

Cycling

Plenty of choice, whether you prefer to cycle along some of the quiet county lanes, along a flat towpath beside the river or explore the many coastal routes. Discover the ‘Voie Verte’ which follows the path of the old railway line from Questembert to Mauron – 53 km of surfaced track.  Providing an excellent, safe, traffic free route through some beautiful countryside. Cycle hire available at Malestroit, Damgan, Port Navalo and Arzon.

Fishing

A popular area for fishing, whether it is river, lake or sea fishing.  Our nearest fishing is at Questembert, (5 mins) where the lake is stocked with Trout, Perch and Carp. Fishing also available at Rochford en Terre (lake), Malestroit (river), La Roche Bernard(river) and La Gacilly (river).  Fishing permits can be bought locally and are inexpensive, they are valid for one day (10 euros) or a fortnight (30 euros).  Available from 1st June – 30 September.
